Most important Reasons to consider HVAC Vent Cleaning in Syracuse, NY

  • Cleaning your air ducts greatly increases the efficiency of your HVAC system. Elevated amounts of hair, dust, pest debris and other pollutants can greatly hinder the air flow of your system.
  • Allergies are one of the most cited reasons why customers choose to have their ducts cleaned. Unfortunately, air ducts provide an ideal “petri dish” like environment for the growth of bacteria and allergens.
  • Mold growth can sometimes be a major catalyst for the cleaning of your HVAC system. The majority of air duct vents are located within your basement. Most basements have been subjected to an event that has caused wet or damp conditions in the past. That environment makes mold growth highly possible within adjoining ducts.
  • Pet dander and dust are also a cause for discomfort within the process leading to air duct cleaning. Bacteria and allergens based around these two antagonists, can lead to health issues prior to identification of the air ducts needing service.

AIR DUCT CLEANING PROCESS IN SYRACUSE, NY

Conventional air duct systems consist of a supply and a return. The supply ducts of an HVAC system provide heated or cooled air from the air handler to a main “trunk” line. The main trunk line carries the air to smaller “branch” lines which then distributes the air to various locations throughout the home.

Although air duct systems may vary, a typical ventilation cleaning job in Syracuse, NY would work as follows:
  • Arrive at job location, place boot covers on to protect building flooring, perform a preliminary inspection of the system and prepare any paperwork dealings with our client.
  • Turn the system on to make sure it is operating properly. Once you determine that everything is operating fine, turn the system off.
  • The furnace filter is removed, wrapped in plastic, and reinstalled to separate the supply and return sides of the system.
  • An 8” or 12” access hole is then cut into the main trunk line near the plenum. A zone bag is then inflated in the duct between the access hole and the plenum. This helps insure a strong vacuum and a good negative pressure on the system.
  • Install the duct mounting flange over the access hole and attach the flex duct with a quick connect clamp. The other end of the flex duct will be attached our high powered HEPA Filtered Air Duct Cleaner.
  • Now that the system is running and under negative pressure, we will go to each register and seal them off with plastic sheets. This will increase our air velocity, negative pressure and create a completely dust free environment during our cleaning process.
  • Starting from the furthest register, we will clean each branch line by using compressed air whips, nylon duct brushes, cable driven brushes, or forward air blast assemblies to loosen debris to the main trunk line, where it will be vacuumed out by our high powered HEPA Filtered Air Duct Cleaner. The process is then repeated at each register. Once all the branch lines have been cleaned, we willl then clean out the main trunk line.
  • Once the supply side has been thoroughly cleaned, we will repeat steps 3 through 6 on the return side.
  • Now that the duct system has been cleaned, we will clean the A/C coils and the blower motor.
  • After the system has been cleaned an EPA registered air duct sanitizer may be applied. While the system is still under negative pressure, the sanitizer is sprayed into the main trunk lines with an Ultra-Low Volume (ULV) Fogger.
  • Once the system has been thoroughly cleaned and sanitized, we will reseal all access holes with metal pat and hole plugs.
  • We will breakdown and clean-up all equipment and components.
  • We will review our completed services with our client and explain any upkeep or maintenance items necessary to maintain clean duct work.
